Wayne Lyrics

lyrics2

About me: "The Plain Clothes Warrior," Wayne Lyrics has been around the Jamaican reggae scene for several years. He began his musical career on sounds like "Jack Ruby," "Magnum" and "President Hi-fi.
Born in St Mary, Jamaica he grew up in Spanish Town to date he has recorded over fifty singles and worked with many of the Island’s top producers and labels. An original in his own right his unique Sing-Jay style has inspired top names, from inception he has been a DJ who has steadfastly delivered conscious and uplifting lyrical content.
His first recording in 1989, "Don’t Dis the Programme," on the "Sea Breeze" label, brought him to the attention of the Island’s producers. More recordings for "Barry O’Hare’s," "X-Rated" label produced songs like "Shot a Lick," and the hit "Pray To God," featuring "King Lorenzo," which was later released by "Runn Records," in Holland, bringing Wayne to the attention of the European audience.
His biggest hit while in Jamaica is "The Basketball Dance," recorded for the "Big Jeans" label for whom he also recorded "Seek and You Shall Find." "Mr Plumber," on "Kings of Kings" label was one of his many top releases as well as "Jah Jah Calling," for Sugar Minott’s, "Black Roots."
Since relocating to the UK, he continued producing the conscious vibes that he is known and loved for, he recorded his debut album, "Poor People a Bawl," (Road Block Records, 2000), from which came the hit song "Mama." Amongst other big singles were, "Love Conquers All," featuring "Anthony B," and "G Vibes," (Golden Eye label), "Life is Important," (Mon Mon Records, 2005), also "Colour of Justice," on the "Silk" riddim, (V.R.P label). Recordings for other UK labels like, "Jet Star," and "Yush" have kept his name ringing.
A popular live performer, he has made several live shows all over France and the European continent and is always in demand for his trade mark sound system specials as heard on many popular Jamaican sound systems such as, "Killamanjaro," "Stone Love," "Bass Odyssey," and others.
For 2007, Wayne has been busy recording a new album with producers "Kenny Edgehill," and "Nereus Joseph," (Sirius Records) from which the track "Burnin" with "Empress Ayeola," a hot favourite on "Irie FM" in Jamaica is already building up the anticipation for the forthcoming release.
Recording is well on the way and combinations with "King Jay," and "Nereus Joseph," feature, making a tuff set of songs, so far.
Wayne has just released for his fans a long-awaited new album, called 'Safe Place' and will be touring burning ‘a’ fire live somewhere near you soon.
He is one of the co-founder of the Reggaewave.net webstation, launched in 2008. In the same year Reggae Wave Records has been established, the first release was the Shining Light Riddim featured artists like Anthony B, Empress Ayeola, Pinchers, KingJay and Wayne Lyrics as himself holding the mic.
